Saturday 5th April. Drive from Shrewton to Abergavenny where we go up the Skirrid in pleasant weather getting good views. Bit's of snow on the top. Then drive to the cottage. Photos SK.
Sunday foggy but go for the big one anyway. Up Pen y Fan via Corm Du twice. Snow on the top and no views as can't see more than 20 yards. South along the east of the valley meeting the Roman road. Past the reservoir as the cloud is breaking up then climb onto the westward ridge and back north to Corm Du (3rd time) and Pen y Fan again to see a bit more of a view of the valley below before descending. Photos PyF.
Monday foggy again so go for the "Four Waterfalls" walk near Penderyn and after buying whisky at the distillery there. Once we ascend from the falls the clouds clear so some views to be had. Photos WF.
Tuesday is foggy again. We climb Fan Frynych with hardly any visibility and descend the other side in light rain. Skirting the bottom of the carved out glacial valley we see where we've walked up. A sheer drop which we couldn't see from the top. Photos FF.
Wednesday it's clear of course, as we're on our way home. Stop off near Abergavenny to climb Sugar Loaf then drive to our parents before parting and I train back to London. Photos SL.
And some of the cottage at Pant Glas. Photos PG.
